Mel's love affair with motorcycles started way back in the mid 60's. Anytime he had a chance to throw his leg over two wheels it was all he needed. As he grew older the "bike" became an obsession. Art was something he dreamed of doing the rest of his life and somehow the motorcycle needed to be a part of his art. "You can always tell a biker... you just can't tell them too much" So with that in mind Mel decided to get into custom paint on motorcycles. Against everyones advice Mel picked up a paint gun and using the airbrush, sword striper and his unusual outlook on life he started turning out paint jobs that won his customers many a first place awards. House of Kolor was Mel's paint of choice... "you can't have a custom paint job without custom paint". Its good enough for the rod and custom bike builders House of Kolor fit the bill when Mel needed that POP!.

Mel has been adding his special touch to paint for years and seen the need to incorporate House of Kolor in his paintings. While every professional painter has told Mel he couldn't do this or that with paint, Mel as usual didn't listen and did it anyway. The result was always top shelf art and paint. Never satisfied with just good enough Mel pushed the limits of his knowledge and materials looking for that one of a kind paint job or art.

Still walking that thin line Mel has pioneered adding metal flake and House of Kolor automotive paints in his art. 25+ years of custom painting now have found a way into his art. For years he used the metal of the automotive world as his canvas... now he uses canvas to paint his automotive art on.
