We are updating the web site. I have received several questions in my email, so this looks like a good place to answer them.
Q. from John T " I have been told airbrushing is not considered an art" Whats your answer?
A. By who? And who cares if it is looked down by the stuffed shirts! For over 30 years I have made a living doing this "not an art". Oil and acrylic artists may sell a piece of art for thousands, maybe two a year. So say they sell two works a year for five grand each they earned 10 grand for the year, I on the other hand sell my art each day and while I don't get 5 grand each I do A LOT better than 10 grand a year.
Q. from Donna J. I get the impression you just teach automotive art. I would like to sharpen my skills on creating wall murals, I own a business where I hand paint murals on walls in homes and would like to learn how to spend less time painting and more time enjoying the money I make. My question... can the airbrush help me with my business?
A. Yes! the paints we use on automotive can be used on many different surfaces. Walls are a great surface and hold the paint exteremly well. Our automotive paints give brighter colors, and with the airbrush you can get effects not available with other methods of painting. It also can cut your time in as much as half.
Q. from Larry B. I read about this BBF class. I'm in my mid thirties and remember my dad and the street rods he owned. There was a guy who came around to his shop and hand painted goofy cartoons on these cool machines. He made some decent money for what he did and the time it took him to do it. Rumor had it he spent a big part of what he made on booze. When you stood next to him you could smell the booze on his breath. Looking back he was smashed whenever he came in to added his work to a car my dad was working on. Is this type art I mentioned above part of your BBF class?
A. Yes the "goofy cartoons" are as big today as when I started in 1976. Sorry we only teach the art end of your question, the drinking you have to learn somewhere else.
Q. from D.C. I am unemployed and can't find a job to save my soul. I spent years in College and still have student loans to pay off making this time even more unpleasant. I have been searching since getting laid off for a position similar to the last job I held and NOTHING! Could any of the classes you offer help me out?
A. I can teach you my art, it's a simple method to use but YOU need to practice what you learn in class. I have no magic wand I can wave over your head. What you learn in my class has to be practiced over and over.
